"The Nelly Trophy"
The Nelly is an annual award presented at Olde Hope Farms open to all horses that teach and give confidence to new riders entering the exciting sport of eventing. The award was generously donated by Pam Bartholomew owner and trainer of Nelly and by Lisa Massee one of Nelly's students, both frequent competitors and supporters of Olde Hope.
Nelly had been Pam's upper level event mount that had since retired to a new career as a mentor guiding new eventing competitors around the courses.
Nelly inspired confidence and trust in her emerging riders while in her new role as a talented teacher. She was happy and secure in her job and now enjoyed life in the lower level events. Nelly was a trusted, reliable and safe mount and it is precisely these qualities that will form the basis of the "Nelly Award" today.
